Welcome to the NFT Drops newsletter
This week we modify the newsletter format a little bit. We start with a recap section of notable NFT news, dive into spotlights on the Obits collection and artist Robbie Barrat, and finish with some upcoming drops to look forward to.
Here we go!
NFT News Recap
Many Solana projects have seen huge rises in terms of price and popularity. Particularly, @turtlesNFT has seen a huge jump in price. In the span of 2 weeks (9/26-10/9), they saw a price jump from 5.4 SOL to 13 SOL!
The Magic Mushies NFT project made some announcements regarding their drop and content:

Collection inspired by team tripping
The @HeadDaoNFT project by @TheShamdoo is a collection of 10,000 heads on Ethereum that give owners access to the Head DAO, which buys blue chip NFTs. DAO members receive $HEAD tokens representing fractional shares of NFTs held in vault.
The current floor price is 0.485 ETH
Secondary market on OpenSea
Shamdoo actively leads the community and has 30k followers on Twitter.
The Jungle Cats dropped on Raydium Dropzone on October 18th and sold out. Due to insane demand for the lottery, the project drop faced some issues, but the team has since rectified many problems. Mint price was 2 SOL, current floor price is 4 SOL.
Kaiju Kingz is a collection of 3,333 Genesis Kaiju NFT collectibles created by Augmented Labs. Their mission is to create a community that provides a place for the future of Web3 to learn, build, and conquer. The collection has been making huge waves in the NFT space, ranking 3rd on the Opensea rankings last week in Volume. The price floor last week was 4.22 ETH, and was steadily increasing before a quick drop to 2.6 ETH. 6,666 Baby Kaijus will soon accompany the already popular collection.
And finally, a little NFT Drops News: We are making an Ethereum and a Solana bluechip list that includes some of the biggest projects on each Blockchain. Navigate to our Twitter if you have any input on what should be featured! We are aiming to give weekly/bi-weekly price updates on these projects.
Obits Spotlight
The Obits are a collection of 7,132 punk-inspired skeletons on the Ethereum Blockchain. They gained massive popularity when Kevin Rose set an Obit as his PFP, and when FlamingoDAO tweeted:
Born by the death of CryptoPunk #2317 (he was burned), the Obits prematurely sold out. While the team minted two Obits tokens for giveaways behind the scenes, someone learned that the contract was open to minting and word quickly spread. It was an overnight success!
Since then, the team has been scrambling to build up aspects of the project that would have otherwise been developed prior to the expected drop date. Special launches, airdrops, and more community and brand building are all being built upon.
The floor price has hovered between .08 and .22 ETH for the past month, and currently sits at .08 ETH.
Artist Spotlight
Robbie Barrat is a young digital artist who uses AI to create abstracted landscapes, nudes, and sculptures that are reminiscent of pieces from traditional art. Barrat has seen huge success using crypto as a mechanism to sell art. His creative process involves using code to scramble and mesh traditional artworks into new pieces, often sampling from WikiArt.
Some hallmark works include “saint nazarine” and “AI Generated Landscape #6”, which each sold for 50+ ETH. Barrat is in the top ten of all crypto artists based on volume sold, with north of $13 million in sales. Also, he has collaborated with Balenciaga on a series of runway looks!
