#025: ENS Airdrop, WhIsBe, and more NFT news
Welcome to the NFT Drops newsletter
This week we start with a recap section of notable NFT news, dive into spotlights on the ENS airdrop and artist WhIsBe, and finish with some upcoming drops to look forward to.
Here we go!
NFT News Recap
Chubbiverse dropped a collection of 8,888 cute little companions for the genesis collection of 250 Chubbicorns released on September 5. The drop sold out, and resale on OpenSea spiked up above .13 ETH. The current floor price is .05 ETH.
Quentin Tarantino announced some big news at NFT NYC last week. He will be releasing handwritten pages from the original Pulp Fiction script as NFTs. Tarantino explained that those who viewed the pages greatly appreciated the opportunity, and he wanted to make them more widely available. Check out the newly created website for more information.
The Party Degenerates are a collection of 10,000 odd-looking NFTs that have been featured on OpenSea’s Top 100 list for weeks. The project has a deep bench of experienced team members and crypto influencers, and has produced serious interest from some NFT whales.
Boryoku Dragonz are a collection of 1,111 Dragon NFTs on Solana. The NFTs generate a novel sense of utility for holders through daily airdrops and a Crypto-Kitties like breeding game. The team is backed by an elite set of artists and designers who strive to generate long-term value for collectors.
Degenerate Trash Pandas accompany all members of the Degenerate Ape Academy, each Ape is redeemable for a Panda 1:1. Panda or Ape holders are eligible to receive the utility from either collection, but owning both a Panda and an Ape will unlock a whole new set of benefits. A fair launch pricing structure will determine the mint price, which is expected to be from 0.5 - 7 SOL.
ENS Spotlight
The Ethereum Naming Service airdropped $ENS governance tokens to those who have purchased web3 usernames via the platform in the past. An amount of tokens proportional to the amount of unique wallets owned and the amount of time they have owned them was sent to each user.
All of the biggest names in crypto possess ENS domains, and the token airdrop has been heavily discussed on twitter the past few weeks.
Tokens unlock access to the ENS DAO, and holders will be able to govern protocol parameters like pricing and price oracle, as well as control funds from the community treasury and receive revenue.
For users seeking to avoid high gas fees, the claim period extends until May 4, 2022!
Artist Spotlight: WhIsBe
WhIsBe is a contemporary artist who has found a new home in the world of NFTs. He is most well-known for the Gummy Bear, a classic piece that has been recreated dozens of times.
Before the emergence of NFTs as a viable outlet for art, WhIsBe specialized in street art. He grew in popularity over time as museums, galleries, and public exhibitions caught on to his wonderful work.
Most recently, in the crypto space, WhIsBe has thrived on Nifty Gateway. Since September 2020 , WhIsBe has been dropping highly sought-after work on the platform. We even covered some of his highest sales back in early 2020. Most famously, his piece “Not Forgotten, But Gone” sold for $1,000,000!
WhIsBe ranks 13th among all crypto artists by volume sold, with insane numbers on the Nifty Gateway secondary boosting his prestige.
Upcoming Drops
Rangers FC is dropping a collection of NFTs on Wednesday (11/17) to celebrate the soccer club’s undefeated 2020-2021 season. The collection consists of moments from their historic year, and there are varying levels of rarity built in.
Look out for new projects from Art Blocks this week. There is a drop calendar for all Playground, Factory, and Curated drops that we have found especially useful. This week’s drops should be added to the calendar soon, but if you want to see them now check out the Art Blocks Discord!
We know that voltura.eth is dropping a hugely anticipated collection sometime soon, but very few details on the project have been released so far. For now, check out whitelist opportunities via his twitter and look out for more from us.
Highrise Metaverse, an app with millions of users, will drop their first-ever NFT collection on November 22nd. The large user base will be scrambling for access to the 10,000 NFTs that make up the ‘Creature Club’. We see this collection as a good long term bet, as well as a candidate for speedy resale in a jumping secondary market.
That's It!
Thanks for reading. Stay tuned into our twitter for live drop alerts and previews. If there’s someone who should be in the loop on NFTs, send them this newsletter.
See you next week!
