#031: NFT News, Brain Drops, and Upcoming Mints
Happy Super Bowl Sunday and welcome to the 31st edition of the NFT Drops Newsletter. This week, we cover NFT news as usual from the past two weeks. Then, we move on to a Brain Drops spotlight and a few drops to look forward to.
Here we go!💧
NFT Drops Recap
Nifty Gateway released a few great drops in the past two weeks. @NathanHeadPhoto dropped a collection of photographs as raffles and auctions, Klarens Malluta dropped a collection of 999 “Invadors” NFTs, and Slime Sunday dropped a set of auctions and raffles (pictured below).
Superbots provides a unique automated and decentralized trading experience without account verification and for free. They are backed by Alameda Research, Kucoin, and FTX Exchanges. UBXT tokenomics powers all transactions, and there is no commission – traders pay ‘performance fees’ only when they are in profit.
HapeBeast revealed their NFTs one week ago and simultaneously teamed up with RaritySniper to deliver rarity rankings to all holders. Hapes have been very actively traded since then, leading almost all NFTs in trading volume. Right now, they have a floor just above 4 ETH.
The Squiggles Collection dropped on Thursday 02/10 and instantly secondary sales plummeted. The collection was quickly removed from OpenSea, but remains active on LooksRare. It seems that the team behind Squiggles had a history of creating NFT projects and quickly abandoning them after mint.
The Cool Cats team dropped Pets NFTs meant for use in an interactive universe - Cooltopia - as companions to each Cat NFT. There were some delays to the drop as the team worked through bot attacks, but eventually it went live and sold out. After minting for .5 ETH, the 19,999 Pets in their Egg form have a floor of 2.4 ETH on OpenSea.
Karafuru NFT currently sits atop OpenSea’s NFT rankings. It is a generative collection of 5,555 unique NFTs - and they really are unique. Each NFT has a cool distinctive look. There are 12 base characters, countless traits, and 1,000,000 colors incorporated.
Brain Drops Spotlight
Brain Drops is a cool new outfit for AI-generated artwork. Like the tweet says, they collab with AI artists to drop mid-sized collections at 0.1 ETH.
Brain Drops is really cool because they are bringing more eyes to the underrepresented space of AI-generated NFT art. People are catching on to the exciting and dream-like style, where colors and images get blended together for a cool effect.

We have seen other AI projects, like Botto (pictured below), come into the spotlight in the past few months as well. The Botto Project is powered by a single algorithm that creates a new work of art each week.
So far, Brain Drops has sold out 8 of 8 collections and sponsored work from a series of well-known AI artists. The floor for the whole platform is 0.13 ETH, and an impressive volume of 3.9K ETH has been traded in secondary market sales.
In the future, Brain Drops has some bigger plans. They want to develop a curation board and application process in order to cast a wider net of possible artist collabs. Additionally, their roadmap “includes building functionality for the art to be generated, customized, and curated on-the-fly by the minters”.
Heavens Last Angel released this collection called “Deep Journeys” via Brain Drops, check out more work on their website.
Upcoming Drops
Here are a few drops that we are looking forward to in the coming days:
Weathereport is a classic 10K pfp NFT project that has a huge number of people excited for their drop on February 23. A big part of their mission is the incorporation of physical merchandise, like gadgets and apparel, into the community of NFT holders. Some merchandise has already his the streets and gained a little media attention.
The Degen Toonz pre-sale happens this Tuesday (02/15), followed up by the public sale on Wednesday. The team has incorporated a variety of minting rewards, including free t-shirts, a mint airdrop, and $50K in rewards to minters. In the long term, DAO voting and $TOON rewards will play a big part in this community.
Art Blocks is dropping a Curated Collection tomorrow (02/14). “entretiempos” by Marcelo Soria-Rodríguez is a set of 1,000 generative pieces under a dutch auction format that will start at 5 ETH and trickle down to 0.1 ETH.
That’s It!
