#039: ETH Toronto, Phantom Galaxies, and Trippin Apes
Welcome to the 39th edition of the NFT Drops Newsletter! In this edition, we recap important drops and NFT news from the past two weeks.
Here we go!💧
The Blockchain Futurist Conference has been announced to take place on August 9th & 10th in Toronto, Canada. This will be Canada’s premier and largest cryptocurrency/blockchain event, while the ETHToronto hackathon will be occurring simultaneously. The conference aims to bring together a global sample of developers, investors, and Web 3.0 enthusiasts to learn through hands-on tech showcases and discussion with industry experts. They have offered our community 50% off of tickets with the code DROPS50 which can be used at checkout!
Phantom Galaxies dropped 10,000 Planet Genesis NFTs, one of several of the project’s NFT collections which will be playable items in the Phantom Galaxies game. They have also provided a whitepaper on their website that details gameplay and the uses for each specific type of NFT. This drop has been selling quickly from the start, with just a few final units available to mint.
Crypto Skulls released a V2 NFT collection, called Demonic Skulls. This collection of 2,100 NFTs was listed for minting at 0.1 ETH. Another tier of Demonic Skulls, referred to as “Level 2,” is expected to drop, though no launch date has been offered yet. The existing Level 0 NFTs possess certain different and heightened capabilities that will not be included in the next drop.
The Trippin Ape Tribe launched a PFP collection of 10,000 Apes, each made mintable for 4 SOL on both Magic Eden and Opensea. This project has grown a significant social media following, attracting “tribe” members with its trippy, provocative art and detailed backstory. The NFTs have grown substantially in value, with the floor price on Magic Eden currently sitting at nearly 40 SOL.
Unchained recently came out with 4,444 NFTs, each at a price of 1.99 SOL, that can be used to play in the project’s PvP battle game called Kingmaker. This game allows users to play with NFTs from over 70 different compatible projects, aside from Unchained’s own creations. The process of onboarding all of these projects is happening right now, and this unique feature was received with enthusiasm that drove the drop to sell out quickly.
Boki dropped 7,777 NFTs at varying levels of rarity which were available to mint for 0.06 ETH. This project’s identity rests heavily in its art, which features playful cartoon characters that are meant to portray a world full of happy blue skies and fluffy clouds. They aim to expand the Boki community across several mediums outside of the NFT space, although no specific efforts have yet been announced.
Cardboard Citizen released 6,676 NFTs at a mint price of 1.5 SOL. This collection featured art depicting imperfect, slightly beaten-up cardboard boxes. These are accompanied by the story of delivery workers experiencing everyday burnout and wear-and-tear. The project also has exciting plans to collaborate with various street fashion brands that are based in France.
Karafufu launched a collaboration with HYPEBEAST and Atmos, which consists of 5,555 NFTs. Each had a starting price of 0.5 ETH. Given the popularity that HYPEBEAST has acquired in recent years, along with the similar audience that Atmos appeals to, this drop racked up lots of hype and sold out within hours.
VeVe released a new addition to its Marvel Digital Comics collection called Invincible Iron Man #118. 10,000 limited editions of this comic were made available for only $6.99. Like all Marvel Digital Comics, these are vintage and fully readable. Additionally, five different rare cover variations make the comic “books” even more original.
That’s It!
