#20: Pudgy Penguins, Crypto Venetians, and More
Welcome to the NFTDrops newsletter!
This week we will break down NFT mania from the last week and provide an artist spotlight on the prolific Darien Brito.
Here we go!
Pudgy Penguins
The Pudgy Penguins are a collection of 8,888 adorable, decked-out cartoon penguins.
All 8,888 Editions were sold in just 19 minutes. Editions are now reselling on Opensea with a price floor of 1.85 ETH. This week, the price has shited around a bit, but stayed within the 1.5-2.5 ETH range.
The most rare penguins are selling for much more. Penguin #6873 recently sold for $469,000. A few other sales have surpassed 100 ETH, and many more are above 25 ETH!
Pudgy Penguins ranks #2 on Opensea for volume sold, with 21.5K ETH in sales. It has been incredibly popular the past two weeks, hallmarking a huge spike across collections throughout the NFT space. The Penguins even gained the attention of the New York Times!
Sup Ducks
The Sup Ducks are a collection of 10,000 cartoon style animated duck NFTs. All 10,00 of the ducks sold out.
Ducks were sold in bundles, with 1 Duck being .1ETH, 3 for .24ETH (.08ETH each), and 10 for .70ETH (.07ETH each).
The floor price was sitting down around .25ETH for the past ten days, before jumping up to .33 Thursday evening following a special roadmap announcement put out by Sup Duck administration. The collection has 3.6K volume traded and over 2.4K owners.
NFT Drops Recap
Fvckrender dropped 4,169 FVCK_CRYSTAL// NFTs through a website created specifically for the drop. It sold out almost instantly, and the floor price now sits well above mint price at 2 ETH. They are available via OpenSea.
PixelGlyphs concluded their naming ceremony, where owners were able to create the name of their NFTs to exist forever on the Blockchain. Many Glyphs went unnamed, but some collectors chose aptly reflective names.
The Fuckin' Trolls dropped on Wednesday at noon. The drop was marked by chaotic tweets from their Twitter account and some confusion as a result of creators trolling collectors. Soon after the collection sold out, the floor price shot down to .02 ETH. It now sits under .01 ETH.
Crypto Venetians prematurely sold out after a hacker minted the remaining 3,000+ NFTs in the collection of 10,000. They were reserved for in-person minting and limited to five patrons per day, but abruptly had to pivot into the next stage of their roadmap. In the aftermath of the crisis, a majority of the Venetians were returned.
Photographer and graphic designer Elise Swopes dropped on Nifty Gateway on Sunday. She released six limited edition #SwopesGiraffes. They all sold for between $2,100 and $3,200. She also released six Editions of 10 for $500 Each which all sold out.

@Mattgondek dropped on Makersplace, with each mouse NFT selling out.
Artist Spotlight
This week's artist of the week was Darien Brito. He is a creative coder and audiovisual artist. Brito works with sound, image, and algorithms to create multisensory experiences. His background in both audio and visual art make for unique pieces and collections. Brito recently released his first Art Blocks Curated collection "Pigments", an exploration of color and spatial distortion. Each of the 1024 Editions were created from an algorithm with infinite outputs. The collection sold out. Editions are reselling on Opensea with a price floor of 5.73 ETH. The popularity of this collection has fed into the recent boom in Art Blocks sales. Today the Curated collections rank first in volume sold with 14K ETH in sales in the last week.
